Tom LaRock
After retiring from a successful career in mechanical engineering in 2013, I returned to a lifelong passion for painting, this time with a deliberate commitment to mastery. Seeking rigorous training in the classical tradition of representational art, I moved to New York City, where I immersed myself in full-time study.
My most formative years were spent under the instruction of master artist Joshua LaRock in the Flatiron District. For three years, I worked in a disciplined atelier environment, refining technique and deepening my understanding of the enduring methods of the great European and American masters.
In 2016, I returned to The Woodlands, where I continue to paint full time. My work is grounded in realism and built carefully in layers of oil, honoring traditions that have stood the test of centuries. I strive to create paintings that invite stillness, works that quietly reflect beauty, dignity, and truth.
